LANDS OF DIVERSITY
Our sparkling wines are poured at shared moments of joy around the world, and it all begins with the land.
Healthy soils shape the character of our grapes, strong ecosystems sustain vibrant vineyards, and weather each season leaves its mark on the wine. So for us, sustainability isn’t a checkbox - it’s how we work every day: here and at every CHANDON estate around the world.
In Australia, our vineyards lie on the lands of the Wurundjeri and Taungurung Peoples — First Nations custodians of the regions where we grow and make our wines. We are honoured to be connected to these beautiful and resilient cultures through the Land.

PROTECTING NATURE’S BALANCE THROUGH BIODIVERSITY
Within our Yarra Valley estate lies 64 hectares of open land and water bordering the Yarra River. Cleared before our time, this area was once a thriving network of billabongs, rich with native flora and fauna. Now, we’re working to help it flourish once more - restoring it as a living, breathing ecosystem.
In partnership with a coalition of experts and local groups, we’ve embarked on a long-term project to regenerate these lands and waterways, allowing biodiversity to return and thrive.
This work includes:
• Restoring 45% of our Yarra Valley estate through habitat rehabilitation and water quality initiatives
• Creating a sanctuary for native plants and animals, including endangered species
• Preparing the land (now underway), with planting scheduled for 2026

REDUCING OUR IMPACT THROUGH SMARTER, LIGHTER CHOICES
We’re taking action to reduce our impact; from the way we use water and energy to how we design and transport our wine. That means using less, reusing more, and finding smarter, lighter solutions at every step:
• Our winery and cellar door are powered by renewable electricity, including solar generated on-site
• 100% of winery water is recycled and returned to the vineyard
• We’ve reduced energy emissions by 92% since 2019, and continue to drive them lower
• By 2030, we’re targeting wine packaging that is 100% recyclable and made from at least 70% recycled materials
SOILS FOR THE FUTURE
At CHANDON, we’re working to build the long-term resilience of our vineyards, supported by thoughtful use of technology and precision tools. We’re continuing to build our knowledge so we can care for the land in smarter, more sustainable ways.
• CHANDON is a certified member of Sustainable Winegrowing Australia, where we hold ourselves to rigorous standards for environmental responsibility, social equity, and economic viability from vineyard to bottle
• We invest in the future — trialling new equipment and exploring nature-based solutions

OUR COMMUNITY
With 90 staff, six growers, and a network of partners across Victoria, CHANDON is deeply connected to regional communities. In the Yarra Valley, we’re proud to support ECOSS, an environmental and community hub that brings people together to explore practical, local solutions for a more sustainable future.

MEASURED PROGRESS.
MEANINGFUL IMPACT.
"We don’t see sustainability as a checklist. It’s a way of thinking about legacy - of working with nature rather than against it.”
– Susan Caudry, CHANDON Australia Estate Director
Our decisions are grounded in science, and we work closely with sustainability experts and independent certification programs to guide our approach.
Each month, our dedicated Environment and Community Committee tracks, analyses and plans for improvement across:
• Regenerating soils and supporting biodiversity
• Reducing energy use and increasing renewables
• Minimising water use and protecting local waterways
• Cutting waste and improving circularity
• Deepening community partnerships and social impact
Because true sustainability isn’t static. It’s something we work towards, measure honestly, and improve holistically, season by season.

WE CONTINUE TO EVOLVE
Lands of Diversity is a living platform. One that grows as we do; sparked by curiosity, strengthened by partnerships, and shaped by people.
We believe wine should be part of a positive environmental future, one that celebrates place, preserves potential, and opens a world of possibilities.
